PRE-SCHOOL & TODDLER
TODDLER EXTRA MURALS
Our All-Day-Montessori allows us to support children in areas that they needed further assistance while at the same time providing a fun, enjoyable and safe space to play in the afternoons.
All-Day-Montessori includes the Extra Mural program, outdoor Aftercare play and an Afternoon Montessori Program. (More details below)
The afternoon is structured as follows for Pre-School and Elementary:
This is an hour-long session for Pre-schoolers who are waiting for older siblings to finish the Elementary program or children who wish to take part in the afternoon Montessori Program and who are not signed up for an extra mural. Pre-School children who are signed up for an Extra Mural that finishes early (30 or 45 min sessions) and are enrolled in the afternoon Montessori Program will automatically join this program at no extra charge – they do not need to be enrolled in the session.
PRE-SCHOOL AFTERNOON MONTESSORI PROGRAM
The Pre-school Afternoon Montessori program will consist of fun activities that are Montessori based. It will also allow children who are needing extra assistance in core curriculum areas to receive this additional input. The program will run in the outdoor classroom from 13h30-15h00 and there will then be further time to play outdoors until 16h00. Parents may collect their children any time between 15h00-16h00.
PRE-SCHOOL EXTRA MURALS
Imagination Station, run by Amy Cornfield, provides a creative space for children where they feel safe and free to experiment, innovate, discover, play and express themselves through art. “We explore different themes, techniques and materials. The children draw, paint, colour, cut, trace, mould, glue and stick to make fantastic creations using their imaginations. We use recycled materials as much as possible to teach the importance of recycling, and actively engage children in the concept of up-cycling. Imagination Station is a supportive and stimulating environment where creativity is fostered through exploration and imagination, skills are developed and self-esteem is enhanced”.
Clay Creations offers children an excellent opportunity to explore their own creativity. Additionally, they benefit by listening to instruction, processing information received, both verbally and non-verbally and concentrating while using their fine motor skills and hand eye co-ordination. Each lesson includes various techniques, Pinch Pots, coil building (sausages) and slab work (flat pieces of clay). One project is completed each week, then dried, fired and glazed and returned in two weeks. Aged 4 and up.
