Head of School

Based at the foot of Table Mountain in Oranjezicht, Cape Town, Stepping Stones Montessori School is searching for a Head of School who shares our values and vision.

We believe that our school provides a lifetime’s investment in children’s life skills enhanced through our emphasis on diversity and inclusion.

 

The school’s ambition is to be the leading primary school in SA and a beacon of Montessori excellence, within the next 5 years. We are looking for the right HOS that can ensure we accomplish this.

About the school

The school was founded in 1983 and is dedicated to the global Montessori philosophy and offers a stimulating learning environment that is child-centred, culturally diverse and relaxed; where young children are nurtured and encouraged to be environmentally conscious, independent thinkers. The school has 180 learners from age 18 months to Grade 7.

​

The school is committed to creating a space where inclusion and diversity is actively practiced by recognising and embracing differences positively and openly.

​

The school is accredited through SAMA and is currently seeking international accreditation through IMC.

 

About the role

As the Head of School, you will be responsible for the management and administration of all operations of the School and use your experience, passion and energy to structure continuous improvement and development.  

​

This role reports to the Board of Trustees and has the Head of Education, Administration and Facilities reporting to it.

The Head of School must have:

  • A relevant Degree (Education, Business, Management, Human Resources, Psychology)

  • A thorough understanding of the Montessori philosophy

  • Strong people and communication skills

  • Proven leadership skills across multiple stakeholder groups

  • Proven track record in operational skills by managing and growing an organization. 

  • Sound financial and regulatory understanding/experience 

  • Able to demonstrate their ability in progressing the school towards attaining their mid to long term goals.
