Senior Upper Elementary Teacher

Basic Salary: R18,000 – R22,000 TCTC 

Location: ZA, Western Cape, Cape Town – Oranjezicht

Contract: Fixed-Term Contract 

Start Date: Immediate

 

Founded in 1983 by a small group of motivated parents, The Cape Town Montessori School (CTMS) (formerly Stepping Stones) has grown into a leading independent Montessori school that now houses Toddlers, Pre-school and a fully-fledged Elementary program. 

 

We are seeking a proven and energetic educator who loves tackling new challenges by thinking out of the box to fill a position in our Upper Elementary phase (9-12).

This Senior Teacher role is responsible for ensuring that they deliver high-quality educational experiences while contributing to enhancing the curriculum for our Elementary Program. The ideal candidate will have a positive personality aligned with Montessori philosophy and principles and a growth mindset, excellent interpersonal skills, and an unbridled passion for and commitment to changing the world (yes, the world) through high-quality education​.

Key requirements for the role:

​

  • 3-5 years of teaching experience at the Intermediate primary school (Grade 4-7) level, with either BEd or PGCE qualification for the intermediate phase. E.

  • Montessori qualification or experience. E.

  • Cambridge experience advantageous. D.

  • Experience in curriculum building. D.

  • Experience teaching international students would be advantageous. D.

  • Demonstrated experience in working effectively working with young people to promote their individual academic potential. E.

  • Adept in a technological environment and operationally savvy. E.

  • Professional proficiency in English. E.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. E.

  • Excellent administrative, organisational and reporting skills. E.

  • Valid South African Police clearance required and Sexual Offenders Affidavit required. E.

  • SACE registration or eligible to apply for SACE. E.
